ABOUT

Zane Myers currently maintains a private teaching studio in New York City, and serves on piano faculty of the Third Street Music School Settlement where he teaches private piano, piano ensemble, and Suzuki piano. He has served on the college and pre-college faculties of Birmingham-Southern College and the Northridge Community Music School - Los Angeles, where he maintained a private studio of students, ages 4-22, and taught classroom theory and ear-training. Mr. Myers’ students have been high honors winners in competitions held by the Virginia Music Educators Association, California Music Educators Association, and Music Teachers National Association regional and national competitions. His students have received top honors in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), and ABRSM adjudicated festivals, and he has successfully placed piano students at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division, the Fiorello LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, and Mark Twain Middle School for the Gifted & Talented.

 

Mr. Myers has appeared as a recital pianist in various music festivals across the United States as well as concert appearances at the Avignon and Monte Carlo Spring Arts Festivals – France, and the Chipping-Campden and Norfolk & Norwich Festivals – U.K. Mr. Myers has served as pianist with the Gabrieli Piano Trio since 2015, performing at the Festival Napa Valley, Great Lakes Chamber Festival, Colorado-Vail Music Festival, and Festival Mozaic in San Louis Obispo, CA.  

 

As a conductor, Mr. Myers has lead performances with the Bronx Opera, Sarasota Opera, and the New York City Center for Contemporary Opera. Broadway conducting credits include Aida, Kiss Me Kate, The Fantasticks off-Broadway, and international tours of The Phantom of the Opera and Leonard Bernstein’s Candide in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Denmark, and Singapore. Mr. Myers has appeared as guest conductor with the Indiana Chamber Players, the Florida Chamber Orchestra, the California Youth Symphony, and the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra, Brighton, U.K. Mr. Myers served as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for the Glenalbyn Summer Music Festival for 8 seasons.

 

 

Mr. Myers completed his undergraduate studies at the Juilliard School and holds a Master’s in Orchestral Conducting from the University of South Carolina. Principal piano teachers include Beveridge Webster – The Juilliard School, Jeaneane Dowis – New York City, and William DeVan – The Aspen Music Festival. Orchestral Conducting teachers include Donald Portnoy – USC, Murray Sidlin – The Aspen Music Festival, and David Itkin – University of North Texas.
